Many thanks for replies.  I now realise I have been clicking on Edit at the top of the screen and not the edit which appears underneath the person's details!  What a dumbo!!!!

Previously, I was able to input burial information on the Family Group page.    The information that is still there is:

Name
Born - place born
Married - place married
Died - place died
but no section for burial date (and where)

Any help would be appreciated - I have obviously done something silly!

You are quite right -- no father's name. Mother Lavinia Charlotte Allen.

It might be worth checking the County Archives to see if any Affiliation Order was taken out by Lavinia against the father.

Thank you for your quick response.  I obtained my information from FamilySearch where they have transcribed the mother's name as Luvinia Charlotte Allen not Lavinia.  I assume you have access to the Parish Record - does this give an address and could you tell me what it says re parents.  I have parish records from another area where the comment 'reputed father's name' is added when the mother is not married.  Does the Parish Record give a date of birth - some do.  I have never heard of an Affiliation Order - thanks for the suggestion - I will check this out.

I am wondering if anyone would be able to check the baptism of Emily Charlotte ALLEN who was baptised in Oundle on 15 September 1972.  Her mother was Lavinia Charlotte ALLEN (although this is sometimes transcribed as Luvinia).  The birth was registered Q4 1871 3b 190.  I don't know which Church would have been used but she lived at the Grocers Shop, North Street, Oundle, with her parents.

I know some baptism records show the name of the 'reputed' father, but I would imagine the section for father will be blank.

Many thanks to Gibel and heatherjulie for their helpful responses. 

I have so much information about the Allen family but cannot find a marriage (or death for John Cassidy).  It also seems strange that someone from Oundle would end up in Ashton under Lyne.  The only possible census for John Cassidy is a 'James' Cassidy on the 1851 census (Ashton Barracks) where he is described as aged 19, single, born in London, and musician in regimental band.

I am hoping that some kind person would be able to check a baptism record for me.  Three children from the same family were baptised on 12 December 1886.  They were:
 
Mary Lavinia Cassidy, dob 18 June 1876 - mother Lavinia Cassidy - father John Cassidy
Lizzie Ella Cassidy, dob 7 July 1878 - mother Lavinia Cassidy - father John Cassidy
Nellie Cassidy, dob 2 February 1886 - mother Lavinia Cassidy - no father's name

The above information was obtained from Family Search.  I am particularly interested in the father, John Cassidy - occupation etc.
