Found on the 1911 census for Ireland:

Lived on Main Street, Ballymoney, County Antrim
Andrew Leith, age 57, Presbyterian, b. Co. Antrim, grocery clerk, married 25 years
Margaret Leith, age 48, Presbyterian, b. Co. Antrim, married 25 years, 8 children, 7 children living

If someone could please locate the death certificates (even transcriptions) for these two people I would GREATLY appreciate it as you would really help break down a wall for me :)  I know Andrew died on 6 May 1924 and Margaret died 9 February 1962.  Also per each of their wills they left their assets to a Jeanie Montgomery Leith whom I believe to be their oldest daughter.

Thank you very much!!

Family Bibles / Gately & CO
« on: Wednesday 09 April 14 19:56 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have any information on these bibles?  I discovered a cousin that has what appears to be a Gately & Co family bible. (based on internet image searches and similar-looking bibles)

Also, it is Masonic as there are many Masonic symbols on the front cover.  Any particular reason(s) as to why the family would have one of these - would the original owner or recipient had to have been a Mason?

I have an image of the front cover however this site is not allowing me to upload it for some reason, I don't believe it is too large.

Thank you!!
Tim

Antrim / The surname Leith in Antrim
« on: Friday 04 April 14 14:59 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have any information on any Leith families in Antrim?  Specifically I am searching for these individuals:

James Leith born on December 20, 1845, his father was also named James
Had a brother named Hutchison P. Leith who was born in 1850

Their parent's names were James Leith and Eliza Montgomery.  I don't have confirmation on where in particular they resided in Antrim but some sources point to the Portglenone area.

Thanks in advance!!

Antrim / Re: Surname McKechnie in Ireland before 1860

Do any of you have anything on a Nathaniel McKechnie?  He was born on or around 1817 in Ireland (unfortunately I don't have a town or county) and died on June 20, 1897 in Muiravonside, Scotland. (Stirlingshire)

His wife's name was Margaret, maiden name Mayberry.

Thank you!!

Is this easy to obtain so I may see a scan of the original or at least a transcription?

Thank you!

Library and FHS Lookups / Baptismal records lookup in Northumberland
« on: Friday 04 April 14 13:43 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for baptismal records for the following individuals, the
surname is Leith:

James – b. 8/11/1874, baptised Feb. 18, 1875
Nathaniel – b. 1/8/1876, baptised Aug. 9, 1876
Margaret – b. 20/11/1877, baptised Dec. 27, 1877
Joseph – b. 22/2/1880, baptised Mar. 25, 1880

They were each born in Morpeth, Northumberland and I believe were baptized in a Methodist Church.  Unfortunately I do not have a church name.

The father was named James Leith and the mother was named Sarah Jane
(maiden name McKechnie, has been spelled various ways) Leith.  James
had a brother named Hutchison Leith (wife Elizabeth maiden name
Irvine) and they were both coal miners at I believe the Ashington
Colliery, since according to an 1881 census record both families lived
in the 2nd row of Ashington Colliery.

Thank you!!

Unfortunately I don't own the photos - a cousin does - so I don't have better scan of them at this time.  She informed me there is no writing on them whatsoever including photographer or studio information.  I believe they're tintypes as she said they are on a thin tin-like material.  They each measure 2.5" X 3.5"

AJ100 - Which picture in particular would you say is 1870-ish?

Thanks!!

I am unable to locate the gravestones of my GrX3 Grandparents - their names were Nathaniel McKechnie and Margaret (Mayberry) McKechnie.

The lived in Slamannan according to two census records. (1861 and 1891)

Nathaniel died on June 20, 1897 in Mosscandle, Muiravonside.  His parents were James McKechnie and Mary (Milligan) McKechnie.

Margaret died on August 3, 1891 in Blinkbonny which is in the parish of Slamannan.  Her parents were Richard Mayberry and Mary (Wallace) Mayberry.

Nathaniel and Margaret's children's names were:

James
Mary
Sarah Jane
Elizabeth Arther
Margaret

Any help at all that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!!
