Derry (Londonderry) / Burial place of George McGowan

Hi
I'm trying to track down the burial place of a relation of mine, George McGowan.
He died on the 19th November 1972 at Waterside Hospital at the age of 91 years.
His address at the time of death on the death certificate was 44 Fountain St, Londonderry.
I though he might have had a joint burial plot and been buried with his wife Elizabeth Sarah
McGowan Nee Nutter who died on 25th May 1946.
I have made enquiries with Derry City Council and Strabane District Council trying to locate
the burial plot but no joy assuming he would be buried at one of the nearby cemeteries.
Any help would be much appreciated.
