Hello all, Just a little info on the child McFadyen, born 1860  Bothwell, Lanarkshire, this child died at 15 days old and was unnamed. her parents were Alexander McFadyen, And Christina Brown. The father Alexander registered the death he was unable to sign the certificate ie he put his mark a x. Alexander was a Iron Miner. it also states the child was buried Holytown, Church Yard. This is the son of Thomas Turnbull, and Ann Hounam, in the 1881 census two years after his marriage to Agnes Clark, in 1878.

Address. 110 High Street, Langholm, Dumfries.

Joseph Turnbull, Head, Master Slater, M. age 24 years, M. born Langholm, Dumfries,
Agnes Turnbull, Wife, M. age 23 years, F.  born Langholm, Dumfries,
James Turnbull, Son,  age 10 weeks, M. born Langholm, Dumfries.

Hello All,

I am afraid someone has got their family mixed up Joseph Turnbull, born 5/Nov/1856. langholm, Dumfries, to parents Thomas Turnbull, and Ann Hounam, never left Langholm, Dumfries. Joseph Turnbull. married in Langholm, lived in Langholm, all his life and died in Langholm.

Hello Monica,

Yes i would say Bossel, is a transcription off Boswell.

This chap Boswell, may have married twice to two Helen's, and by all accounts he had a son John Gordon, born 5/Sep/1808, Aberdour, Fife, who may be the reputed father of Thomas. aged ten years on that 1841 census.

However it will be difficult to prove.

Do not know if you have his death date seems he died 1902. under both surnames, ie Gordon Thomas Boswell, age 70 years Scoonie, Fife. Also Bisset Thomas Boswell, age 70 years, Scoonie, Fife.

The 1841 census, Dysart, Fife, gives this family,

Gordon Bossel, M age 65 years, Ag Lab. Fife,
Gordon Helen, F. age 50 years, Fife,
Gordon Robert, M. age 23 years, Fife,
Gordon Thomas, M. age 10 years, Fife.

James McKee, born 8/July/1860. Central District, Glasgow, to parents Henry McKee, and Ann Reynolds, who were married 1/June/1855. Calton, Glasgow.

The above James McKee, married Agnes E. Grant. 20/Dec/1883. Blytheswood. Glasgow.

Agnes E. Grant, was born 8/August/1860. Central District, Glasgow, to parents William Grant, and Agnes Pollock.

William Grant, and Agnes Pollock, were married 8/March/1840. Bothwell, Lanark.

Hello All,

Annie Fenwick Smith, born 08/June/1881. Auchterhouse, Forfar, to parents Fredrick Smith, and Ann Campbell.

Auchterhouse is where the family were in the 1881 census. the above birth was after the 1881 census was taken, so this Annie, was not present on the census.
