Ancestry is free this weekend. I see there are a lot of Eltons in the Herefordshire parish records section.

You could try the Biddulph  of Ledbury MSS which have quite a lot about the Eltons, though mainly in the 18th century.

Dear Carole,
Thank you for your response. If you let me know which sources you have used I will see if there is anything in the others I have consulted which help. My concern has been mainly with Ambrose 1 and 2, and yours seems to be rather earlier than them. Ledbury Church has ledger stones for Eltons but mainly for the 18th century; I have a few photographs of them.

Can anyone help me to the parents of Jephthah Willy, married in 1783 at Kingsbury Episcopi ? All other avenues have been scoured, to no avail !

I see from the topic "Joseph Phelps" that Elizabeth Phelps 1767 married Ambrose Willy of Kingsbury. For many years I have been seeking the parents of my ancestor Jephthah Willy. He was married in Kingsbury church in 1783; Ambrose Willy was one of the witnesses. This was actually a double wedding: Jemima Willey was married there on that day; Ambrose again a witness. Was Ambrose the father of Jepthah, and Elizabeth the mother? Were Jephthah and Jemima brother and sister?
