Hi Suz
Now I've come across another puzzle with William Carter. I had noticed on the entry for 1901 that it said he was living at Basset Down, which is not the same as where he was living in 1911, although very nearby. I suppose it doesn't give you any better clue as to where in Basset Down he was living in 1901?

Hi Suz
Thank you so much for all the info. No my grandparents had a family of six when they moved into the house where William Carter lived with his family in 1911. In those days the Farm Labourers/Estate workers changed jobs a lot so I was surprised he was there in one place from at least 1901 until after 1911. Now you have given me their death reg also - thanks a lot.

Hi Suz
Yes that's him and I would be interested to know where he was at the various dates, other than 1891 you have kindly provided already. I was also hoping that someone may have a personal interest in him to know what happened to him after 1911 - but that maybe is asking too much!! What I do know is that my grandparents went to live, in 1914, in the house he was at in 1911, so he obviously moved on before 1914.
Many thanks for your interest.

Hi All
Is there anyone out there who is researching the family of William Carter born Broadtown, Wiltshire circa 1846. From the 1911 census I know that he was living in a house of interest to me as an estate Woodman, almost certainly for the Arnold Forster family at Basset Down. I would be very interested to hear from anyone who knows anything more about him or his family.

Please do any of you listers live in Edinburgh and/or know the city well? My maternal Gt Grandparents were married at 19 Haddington Place in Edinburgh on July 1st 1863 and I am wondering if that address still exists as it was in those days? Would it be possible to get a photo of it if so?
