Hallkmark,

Not on in quite awhile. Out of country for a month and off line. Been playing catch up ever since. Have already identified the 1901 & 19011 census info, but appreciate your effort.

Thanks,

Kevin Murray

Dawn,

Thank you for your message and I will adapt my formatting in the future. FYI, I am not trying to reconnect with "missing relatives" but to specifically find ancestors. I'm sure you appreciate one of the cardinal rules of pursuing ancestry is interviewing surviving relatives to continue to find out about ancestors and pursue that information. All the ones stateside have passed on so now I hope to find others in Ireland.

As for the "living people" policy I appreciate that and understand the privacy  and security issues involved.

I assume that this was posted in a general area, but I've subsequently found that there is a Roscommon thread. Can I re-post there or can this original post be moved to the Roscommon area? Thanks.

Roscommon / Corbett Family from Castlesampson, Roscommon

I am researching my maternal line -Corbetts from, Taughmaconnel, Roscommon. My grandfather - Thomas was born in Castlesampson, 28 Jan 1882. His parents were James Corbett and Mary Fahy (or Fahey - father was Thaddeus Fahy). My grandfather immigrated to the US (Boston) in 1908. His siblings Annie (b. 1868), Eliza (b. 1872), Catherine (b. 1874) Mary (b. 1877), Bridget (b. 1880) and Timothy (b. 1881) - all immigrated to Boston. One brother, Patrick (b. 1870) remained in Ireland - I suspect being the oldest male he inherited the farm/land. Patrick married Mary Logue. Several of their children (James, Patrick, Bridget) immigrated to Boston, and I believe Thomas, Mary and Timothy remained.

I am looking to locate any CORBETT descendants ( or Fahy or Logue), that might remain in the area or are known to anyone. I think that one of Patrick's boys, (*), may have operated or owned the Hayden Hotel and Brennan's Pub in Ballinsloe, probably until the 1970s -1980s.
