Wow, so interesting!  Thanks so much China.  The photo is still in really good condition so that probably explains a lot.
Cheers,
Kim

Thank you so much for the retouching and dating.  Here is the back of the first picture.  Not a "postcard" but it is on heavy paper.
So I've come to a few conclusions:  Probably NOT the same woman.  I know who #2 is and dates don't match up if years on #1 are correct.  Will have to go back to my tree to see who else it might be.
Thanks for all of your insights...so helpful!  This is my first time posting a picture so I appreciate your patience. : )

Thank you so much everyone for your help, I really appreciate it.  I definitely have a lot to follow up on now.  Hopefully there is a connection there (and I can find it!).

Wiggy,
Since you're fixing things up, um, do you mind looking at this photo as well?  Wondering if it's the same woman, much older?  Also, this one has some water damage.  I'd love your opinion on this.  Thanks!  :o

Thank you, Wiggy for straightening that out!  Have no idea why the photo wouldn't be straight up "portrait".  I don't mind the touching up, either.  Anyway, my guess is it's one of 2 relatives born in 1867 (placing the photo at 1886) or possibly one born in 1850 (placing photo at 1869) although I think that's a stretch based on your estimate.

Charles Darling Morrison's father John Thomson Morrison was born in Old Deer in 1870 and his mother Mary Strachan was born in Peterhead in 1867.
Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it.

Aberdeenshire / Female mystery writer "Mary Darling"?
« on: Monday 15 December 14 23:42 GMT (UK)  »
My Grandfather, Charles Darling Morrison was born in Peterhead 1899 and died in Toronto, Canada in 1973.  I have been tracing my family tree (with lots of friendly help from a Morrison cousin) and have not found ANY Darlings at all.  There aren't any Darlings on my cousin's tree either.  I was told that the name Darling came from a Morrison cousin named Mary Darling who was a mystery writer in Scotland.  I cannot find any proof of this at all and was wondering if anybody out there could shed some light on this for me?  Thanks again in advance!

This photo is a little shy of a 4" x 6".  On the reverse it says "Mama 19 years old".  It was taken in Scotland probably in Aberdeenshire.  If anyone can help with dating the photo, I may be able to identify who's "mama" it is.  Thanks for your help in advance. : )
For some reason, it came up sideways--will try to correct this.  sorry...
