I worked in the patternshop at J.G.Steins in the 1950s and 1960s. This must have been some time after your grandfather as I haven't heard his name being used. I lived in Allandale up until 1960 and a few years ago I wrote a small book about the village and Steins who owned the houses. You can read a copy of the book by going to www.allandalecottages.co.uk.
