White Hill is mentioned in a note made by a now deceased relative conducting some of the same research. Nothing on any official documentation.

Anyone familiar with or doing any research for this surname? Emigrated to Canada early 1840's as far as I can tell. White Hill area shows up as possible location.

Thanks

Fermanagh / McGee family in Fermanagh County
« on: Thursday 02 April 15 23:37 BST (UK)  »
I wondered if there may be someone on this board that has any McGee family connection in Fermanagh County? My ancestor, William McGee, wife Mary and at least 7 children left for Ireland and emigrated to the USA thru Canada circa 1844-45. Old notes indicate White Hill as a possible location prior to leaving Ireland.

Thanks
Doug McGee

I am working hard to determine a townland or other physical location. Do you think PRONI is a better option for information than the Dublin archives and library? I will be traveling to Belfast also...

Thanks to aghadowey for your helpful posts....I plan to be in Dublin in early June....I want to visit National Archives and National Library but feel I need more information about the family whereabouts first. Otherwise I will be fumbling and bumbling my way around the building with no results and much frustration! Other than the Fermanagh county reference in obituaries of original the original emigrant family members, no one seems to know anything else.

Family History Beginners Board / Irish Emigration Process 1840's
« on: Sunday 15 March 15 18:17 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to search my family tree and pin down with more certainty the location of my ancestors just prior to leaving Ireland. Can anyone provide information about the "process" itself? Once a poor family decided to leave or knew they were leaving in short order, would there have been notices in publications? landlords to deal with? parish or townland records of some type? Any help or comments are appreciated!
