Hi there!

I'm related to this family.  Edward Henry Capper was my 2nd great grandfather who, as well as his wife and children born in England, came to New Zealand.  I would love to know how you are related?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Debbie

Hi Colin,

Is it possible for you to look up some Capper's in Wrexham.  I would love to contact them either by email or phone.  The only way for me to make contact is going through the White Pages in the UK and you have to pay.  If you can't do this, then that's okay.  Thanks.

Hi ScouseBoy,

Further to what I have mentioned in my last email.  John and Jane Capper could have been married in London but I still cannot find anything with regards to a marriage.  I will persevere!

Hello ScouseBoy,

Thank you for your suggestion and yes I am aware of the changes in boundaries.  I am just hoping when transcriptions have been completed, that I will be able to continue my research, especially for a Marriage Certificate for John and Jane Capper.

Hi Jill,

I have been able to access your website.  I have had a look under Capper reference 53 Wrexham which I am familiar with the information given.  I wish I didn't have such a complicated, although it probably isn't, family to do research on.

Hi Jill,

I do have the Death Certificate for John and the person who was present was his son John.  John Copper/Capper would definitely be my 3rd GG.  possibly whoever was taking down information for the 1871 Census spelt Capper wrong or the accent could have been another reason.  David and Ellinor,  I am pretty positive would have been Jane's relations.  The marriage entry for John and Jane is an ongoing saga.  I have looked on the sight for St. Giles Church in Wrexham but still no marriage entry.  I even contacted Wrexham Archives but they couldn't find anything straight away and suggested I might like to pay someone to do some research.  I seem to have lost count as to how many sights I have actually looked for a marriage entry.  I seem to think that, maybe, the area where John and Jane married (if they ever did) hasn't been transcribed yet.

When John and Jane moved from London after the 1851 Census was taken, it looks as though they lived in Wolverhampton for a time and then moved to Wrexham.  One of my 3 GG son's Edward Henry Capper worked on the railways there and later met his wife Emma Susannah Bishop who was from Staffordshire.  These two came to New Zealand eventually.  It seems to me that John, because of his trade, had to move around where he thought he could sell his feathers/flowers in a better location.  I am all for travelling but in a sightseeing way.  Unfortunately for me, trying to research my family is harder.  Had my ancestors stayed in one spot, research might have been easier.

I will have a look at the details for the parish registers for Denbighshire and let you know if something stands out.  Thank you.

Hi again Jill,

I've had a look at the Denbigh Burials and yes it states - Parish Brymbo.  Does this mean, John and Jane are buried in Brymbo?

Hi Jill,

The Sarah Jane Capper probably is the daughter of John and Jane Capper because Sarah was born 1850 according to the Census.  Obviously she never married and she had her mother's name as her middle name.

I've just had a look at where John died, it says - death place Wrexham, Denbighshire (19 Nov. 1888) but if you look under the Wills, Registry is St. Asaph, John Capper late of Tai near Black Lion Brymbo in the county of Denbighshire.  It seems to me that Denbighshire encompasses quite an area.  John and Jane according to the records, should be buried in Wrexham but that could be anywhere as well.

Hi Jill Rose,

I finally got into the sight but unfortunately couldn't see anything with regard to a marriage entry for John and Jane Capper.  My scenario is that, even though John and Jane were born/baptised in Wrexham, they may well have married in England, presumably in London?  I know from seeing an advertisement advertising his trade which was Feathers (or other times an Artificial Florist) that John was in London at least by 1839, possibly earlier.  Any suggestions if say I bypass John and Jane Capper's marriage, if there ever was one and jump to the next generation (4th great grandparents) John and Sarah who are recorded in the Denbighshire Baptisms for John's baptism?  Apart from calculating when they started having their children, 18 to 25 or 30, where would you suggest I start?

Debbie
