Thank you both for the info - I have found a couple of newspaper articles on the funeral of John.  Seems like he came to Wexford in 1872 from Clontarf. Baby steps!

Yes looks good as the will said John lived in Wellington Place. Many thanks - gives me a clue to her birth.

Not sure where he was born - presume Dublin as he is buried there next to my Great grandmother whose husband James Macklin was born in Dublin.

Many thanks for the will link as hadnt found that.

Any info on John please.  Died 1893 age 71 in Redmund Place Wexford.  Superintendent of Wexford Railway.  We found his grave in Glasnevin Cemetary in Dublin next to my Great Grandmother Margaret Macklin (nee Kinsella)who died in 1897 so assuming a relative.  We have info from Glasnevin that the grave belongs to his sister Catherine Doyle but unable to trace any Doyle-Macklin marriages. He died a bachelor.

Thanks everyone for your contribution.  I visited Glasnevin last June and saw Margaret Kinsella's grave.  Insciption from James - nothing to state he was there as well and the office confirmed.  Will look into the County Carlow aspect - James was a land agent - would that mean travelling the country?  Will also write to the Christian brothers.  I did find the death of Bridgit but would Ernest be put into orphanage if parents were still alive?

Many thanks - but I had already looked at that.  Ages don't seem to fit - James was born about 1855 according to both 1901 and 1911 census in Dublin. Mystery!

Does anyone know if there are records of the boys from this orphanage?  I am trying to find out about my ancestor Ernest Macklin who died on 13th June 1926 with St Vincents as his address aged 16.  I cannot trace the death of either of his parents James and Bridget (they are all in the 1911 census) so am wondering what happened to them all. Ernest was my grandfathers half brother. Many thanks

Many thanks for your replies.  Think you may be right with the 1951 marriage!

I have the baptism of William Edmund Valentine found on Irish Geneology on 13th June 1881 at St Mary's Haddington Road.  In the last column it looks as if there was a marriage at St Kevins Dublin on 6th June 1907 or 1917 (unclear as to which year) with an Adeline Monahan.  However I am unable to trace any civil or church record for this.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?
