Devon Lookup Requests / Re: Fernhill, Shaugh Prior
« on: Sunday 12 March 17 14:40 GMT (UK)  »
My grandmother, Elsie Brehaut's, maiden name was Damarell.  Her father was Frederick William Damarell, who was born in 1866 in Dodbrooke, Kingsbridge, Devon.  His parents were William Damarell, baptised 14/5/1813, and Elizabeth Blake, baptised 1/10/1820.  They married in Dodbrooke.  William's father was William Damarell, gardener.  The only William that I can find who fathered another William was William Damarell of Shaugh Prior who was married to Susanna.  Susan/Suzanne is a family name that has been used in every generation in my family, up to my older sister and a cousin's daughter.  Is this the same William and Suzanne?

Regards
Christine

Also look at the Jersey Archives on line site - members can download WWII Registration cards, parish records indexes, criminal records, hospital records and more.

I have joined Jersey Archive.  It costs @£30 p/a for unlimited downloads - registration cards, parish registers, hospital records, prison records...  My father's maternal grandmother used her  marriage certificate as id for her registration card, but this was inaccurately recorded.  Jersey Registrar were able to find the actual certificate as I was able to give them a ball park date through 1911 census.  All my dad's other relations' id details were accurate and I was able to find out a lot more about French and CI military service, occupations etc from the information given.  My advice is to cross reference information and to check against the 1920 Alien Registration Cards (also on-line at Jersey Archive) as well.
