London and Middlesex / Re: RODWAY families, London 1800s

Oh wow! Yes! That is the exact information I have found out today via Genes Reunited, from another family member who is a descendant of Eliza Rodway (alfred's daughter - one of).
Except the furthest their tree goes back is to William Rodway and Margaret stock. So I didn't know william's middle name nor his parents names, so this is great news! I shall have a read back through the thread now I know this information. As the names meant nothing to me when I first posted on here, but now I will know who is who hopefully!

It's a pleasure to virtually meet you :)

Hi kanskar,

It just so happens I got some new info about his parents today! His mother was Elizabeth Dewson and his father was Alfred Rodway. They also lived in Camden area of London. I have his siblings names too. Nellie, Eliza, Samuel, William, Margaret, Alfred, Elizabeth and George.

If you see any links please let me know :) thanks Mamajam

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping I may get a reply from one of you and hopefully somebody has a connection to my Rodway?
My great grandfather was Henry Rodway, who was born in Holborn (Camden London) in 1901 I believe. He married my great grandmother Ethel sweeting in 1930 in Islington and they eventually moved away to Stevenage (im not sure when).
Henry and his brothers or sons (not sure on names) were goldsmiths and apparently made king George VI's signet ring, queen Elizabeth II's engagement ring. He also was given the freedom of the city of London at some point in his life. I don't know if any of this is true, although I definitely know he was a goldsmith/jewellery maker.

I also heard stories of them running a fish stall at some point on chapel street.
I would be grateful of any information that anyone might have!
