Sorry to hear of loss and hope time is helping to heal the sorrow.
I've not been tracing this line of the much but since last I posted I stumbled across a Vaux in an article on the Pocklington History site (Pocklington being in Yorkshire where my G. grandfather was born).

It appears that this Vaux line were from Huegenot descent arriving from France probably in the 18th Century rather than from Norman Conquest. This being the case then there may be different Vaux family lines.
