This is an ambrotype (on glass). This process superseded the daguerreotype.
This was in use from 1851 & into the early 60's but started to fade around 1860 when a newer process arrived.
The dress & hairstyle suggests a date of mid-late 50's but could be slightly later depending on how up to date she was.
She looks around early to mid 20's & appears married (she has a ring on her wedding finger, ambrotypes are in reverse) so someone born around 1825-35 I would say.

Thank you Jim1. Greatly appreciated. Guess from what you told me it is not who I thought it was... :'( was really hoping it was a daguerreotype. Oh well...

thank you,
Patti

Hi Mercel,
Here is a fix from me. I increased the size and tried to clean it up as best as I could. I wish I could say I can fix blurry images but it is just not possible.  :( Hope my clean up helps in identifying the other people in your photo.

Hi all,
I was wondering if someone might be able to date this photo for me. I also need the approximate age of the lady in the photo. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Photo was possibly taken in Ontario, Canada

Is this a Daguerreotype photo?

Thanks,
Patti

Further info of it has it as in Manchester Road, Stocksbridge

I think it looks like a conservatory or the like.

Gadget

If you click on the link that Gadget posted and then click on the picture to enlarge there is writing on the photo that says "1894 Mr Beazleys Garden Party Queen Victoria's Jubilee". The Brearley may be a typo and that may be why he can't be found on the census records. Just a thought.  ???

Here is one from me... What a great photo. Such cute little boys and a beautiful mother. Loved working on this photo of yours.  ;D

One from me...  :) I couldn't tell if that was suppose to be an R, a K, or an F. Couldn't read it clearly on the wagon to fix the building Letter. So if you know for sure I could fix it for you.

Thanks so much Humdinger - another great restore - the letter is 'F' so a little tweak would be super.

Here you go Keith... Fixed the store letter for you. Any other tweaks you need just let me know.  :)

Thanks so much Patti - that's perfect - another part of my family history wonderfully restored.
