Hi thanks, st Patrick's stamullen  :)

On census, James smyth birth place is laytown ireland

I found docs with Catherine bones...wondered if they can't read and write, they wouldn't know if they'd been written wrong...does boden sound like bones in Irish accent???..might be a silly question but am trying to think of everything 😳😳😳

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Face comparisons any help?
« on: Wednesday 15 March 17 22:35 GMT (UK)  »
It is all down to personal opinion and people see what they want to see.

I can't tell you how many times I have been told "I am my fathers daughter" and " You could never get away with anything as everyone knows who you belong to" I smile and say nothing as my father died when I was 17yrs old, and who they think my 'father' is is in fact my step father and I have no biological/genetic relationship to him at all
Hi thanks for reply
I know what you mean, that's why I need some sort of computer comparison thingy, I,m convincing myself they're similar but is it wishful thinking.... thought I'd ask on here see what happens xx

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Face comparisons any help?
« on: Wednesday 15 March 17 21:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folks, wonder if anyone can give me advice on how to compare two people one male and one female, one is an early 1917ish newspaper photo and a photo from 1990 ish I turned black and white... I've used apps which my teenage son recommended, but I could have put the cat in and it would have had some form of match, like two eyes etc...lolol.anyway any advice or help would be fabulous xx

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Lost thread???? James Smith, Border regt
« on: Wednesday 15 March 17 20:43 GMT (UK)  »
Good morning,

Last evening I looked at a thread referring to a James Smith and the Border regt. I went away and did some research and on my return, no thread and I hadn't noted where it had been posted.

However, the border regt and the VC had been mentioned. Only two James Smith with the VC in the Border regt that I could see.  One got his in India late 1800s so not him.

The other was James Alexander Smith (born James Alexander Glenn). Regtl no 6423 3rd battalion Border regt but attached 2nd battalion. Got his VC dec 1914 for going out into no mans land with a private Acton and bringing in wounded men. Acton also received VC.

James died 1949, I can't do links on tablet but google him. It is all on there for the OP to see.

Hi john, yes this James smith keeps popping up, I feel like I know him personally with all the info I found on him, I,ve mailed museum etc... although I'd be proud to have him part of the family I doubt he is unless he married on the hush hush, then disappeared etc.. thanks john,
