Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Hardie man of New Jeraey
« on: Friday 17 August 18 04:41 BST (UK)  »
When was this picture taken?  The dark haired woman is Mary Hardie, born 1889 died 1943.  The man could be husband number one (born 1877 died 1929), husband number 2 (born 1882 died 1943) or her son (born 1915 died 1972).  When do you think this picture was taken?

Can anyone make this picture a little clearer?  I think I look just like her!

Hello....

Can you help an American new to researching Irish records?  I found in the marriage index that Charlotte Vosser married John Hopkins on 26 Nov 1849 in Dublin.  Her father's name on the index (found on family search) was John Vosser.  What records should I search, and how do I go about that, to try to find out her mother's name?

Thank you!
Jennifer

Thank you all...that is the right James Hardie.  I am able to trace him forward from his 1907 marriage (marriage certificate, 1910 census, 1915 census, WWI registration, 1920 census and death certificate).  What I can't find is any record of him BEFORE his marriage (before 1907).  His death certificate and WWI registration both had December 1877 as a birthdate and being born in Jersey City.  His obituary said he resided in Jersey City his whole life.  I manually searched the December 1877 birth records at the NJ state archives and there was no record of him.  Theoretically there should be a birth certificate, 1880 and 1900 census record of him, but there isn't.  Additionally, there seems to be no record of a James H Hardie (his dad) anywhere EXCEPT James Jr.'s marriage and death certificates.  There is no record of a Mary Maben or Mabey living in Jersey City, NYC or the surrounding areas either.  It's like they dropped out of the sky to get married!

Sure!  If anyone is willing to help I would appreciate it.

It is a marriage certificate between James Hardie and Mary Brady.
Married at St. Mary's Rectory Jersey City, NJ, USA on November 27, 1907.
Both were residing on Second Street in Jersey City.
Father of the Groom: James H.  Mother of the groom: Mary Jane Maben(?)
Father of the bride: Dennis Brady Mother of the bride: Charlotte Voss(er)
Witnesses Thos. Lynch and Cassie Farrington.

James Hardie's birthdate was supposedly 14 December, 1877 according to his death certificate and WWI registration.  On his death certificate, his father is listed as James and mother "Do Not Know".  He is not buried with either of them.

I cannot find any record of James Hardie (junior) before his 1907 marriage or any Hardies or Mary Mabens in NY or Jersey City that would fit the time frame.

THANK YOU!!!

Thanks...the problem is I can't find any record of the groom, or the groom's parents prior to this marriage certificate.  I was almost hoping you all saw something I didn't so that I had a new avenue to reserach.
