My wife's Gt. grandfather was in the RIC and I am trying to come to terms with their record system to make sure I can identify him amongst many with the same name.
I realise there will be very useful information available from the 19th century which should give me a lead on other members of the family.....BUT!.....is there anyone out there who is an expert on
de-ciphering the listings and can help me make a few more steps.
I am sure there will be someone who can give me some tips .
Thank you in anticipation.

My wife's father was born Charles Woods and his Army record gives his address in 1915 as Loughgilly, Rich Hill between Armagh and Portadown.    He appears in 1901 and 1911 census as born in 1897 and part of the Family of James Woods, policeman living in "house No. 6 Rich Hill".   How do I find where this is as Rich Hill now appears a lot larger than then.
We will be in Belfast next weekend and Portadown on Monday/Tues 24th/25th April 2017. Is there anyone who could either mail me or arrange to meet in Armagh or Portadown to help my search.    Once free from my participation in the World Bowls competition in Belfast over the weekend we will be 'free spirits' exploring County Armagh.
