Hi, to date I have not had any connections for Harvey in USA (at least not from what I have traced)

With regard to this: Plot thickens-

Doreen Harvey born 18/11/10 housewife

I have hit a brick wall, I have searched on one of the Irish Ancestors sites as well as a couple of South African ones but nothing at the moment, however, I have asked my sisters to check from their side (UK) and see if they can come up with any ties.  If anyone discovers anything else, I would be most grateful if you let me know.  Thank you all so much for your help xx

(My apologies to the Moderator regarding my posts, I am new (3years new)   :D  to this which is no excuse for not reading the advice before posting)
Thank you for your reply again.

Are you able to see their birth country/regions? Or possibly direct me so that I can search?
Thank you

Hi,  thank you for your reply.

To be honest, I am clutching at straws as I have gone on info from the family who say Norman's father was of Irish decent.

The one attachment is of info I received from a lady who kindly assisted me on one of the genealogy sites that I am on, I am in New Zealand and unable to get to Pretoria despite having asked family members to help me with this.

Also because my grandfather was born in Nairobi (see marriage certificate) and given the article in the government Gazette about George Clement Thomas Harvey, I put them together with 10-year-old Thomas as his father was George.  Possibly not a great assumption on my part but one of Norman's daughters had the middle name Doreen and apparently, Norman also had a sister called Anne, his one daughter is also Anne.  There was a death/ will notice which mentioned Thomas' death  in Johannesburg and mentions Doreen (nee Searle) Harvey as his surviving spouse

I could be wrong, but I have been trolling ship manifests to see if Thomas or George whichever name he went by, left the UK namely Ireland to go to Kenya (apparently many people left the UK for Kenya at that time) Sadly the Kenyan consulate has been VERY unhelpful as we have tried numerous times to request copies of my grandfather's birth certificate.

I called the London office and Kenyan offices and was told "we cannot help because they had no computers in those days", then they cut me off.  (more than 5 times) I was hoping his parents had registered him in the country of their birth too.

My mother was born in SA - British mother and Finnish father and they both registered her birth in their respective countries and she was born a year before my father.

I digress.  This is the info I have and it is not much so I may be worrying you for nothing and for that I apologise.  If you are able to assist in any way, I would be most grateful - thank you for your time xx

Hi, I found this in one of the posts : Rebecca (M'Afee?) Harvey bo rn in Fermanagh in 1867 and Thomas George Harvey gardener
In 1911 they were living in Dublin at  House 11 in Oldconnaught (Rathmichael, Dublin)
Sons John James (18) and George Thomas (10)
I am not too sure but I think this  (George Thomas age 10) may have been my great-grandfather on my father's side.
My father is (Name of living person removed for privacy reasons) born in Durban, South Africa in September 1951.  His father was Norman Rome Thomas Harvey (we think, but he was known to all as Norman) - Norman was born in Nairobi, Kenya to  George Clement Thomas Harvey who was married to Doreen Harvey (maiden name Searle) who then moved to South Africa.
I found an article in the Kenyan Government Gazette about the absolution of a partnership between George Harvey and his business Partner.
Things become VERY murky after Norman Harvey met his wife Olga Blanche Theresa De Gaye (married 1/12/1951) and the relationship between his and his family was severed.  From what older family members have imparted, I think Norman had a sister called (name removed) and one called (name removed) . (But this is unconfirmed heresy from a family member who met them briefly over 46 years ago)

Norman remarried some years after Olga passed away and his second wife was estranged from the family.  Any and all documentation including the family bible disappeared when she died.

I would really like to tie the families together, so much time has passed and Norman died leaving his children - (names removed) along with 12 Grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  Some are still in South Africa and others are in the UK and New Zealand.  Thank you for your time. I can be contacted on email (*)
