G E Hanmer could be his brother George Edward Hanmer b. 01 Oct 1786.

Thanks Alberbury. I did come across the bapt. for Robert. As for the burials listed, they don't fit with him having his 3 children at a later date. So I am wondering if one of these would be for his father.

What does it mean when they write "the younger" in the entry ? Would that be infantile or a younger brother, or... ?

Yes, I guess you had  ;)
I definitely think the 1761 is a very strong lead. There are no children listed after Robert after 1760, so I guess that supports that we have the right man. But then I'm strugling to find any listings further back than that. Just hoping, that the actual church records might have information on parrents. Thanks for all the look-ups  :)

As for getting parents for Robert b 1720,  I guess there is no online information available atm. So I would have to go see the actual church registers ? Would that be Guilsfield in this case ?

I am pretty sure that Massey can't be my relative.

I have children after Robert Hanmer (1758 -1839?)) and Jane Davies:
Samuel 1787
Robert 1790
Benjamin 1793

Children after Robert Hanmer (1720 - 1761?) and Anne Eash:
Thomas 1755
Robert 1758
Robert 1760

Can you see if there were any more children from those parrents ?

hanes teulu, thank you  :) That Thomas is certainly explaining things  ;)
I don't think the 1758 Robert died, I have him down as marrying Jane Davies in 1786, 28 years old. But then, that could have been the Robert from 1760 I guess. It does get confusing when we see several entries with the same name. As there is the same parentage, I guess it will be difficult to know for certain.

Sorry, not that I can remember off hand. But I will note it down and get back to you if I do.

Jo

Hi Jo.

I was looking into some Hanmers for a friend of mine and I was wondering if you may have come across any of these in your searches:

Massie Walley Hanmer b about 1797
Thomas Hanmer b about 1776 in Overton, Cheshire
Or any Hanmers in St Albans.

Thanks, Eric.

Thank you very much. And also for the welcome  :)
So if I understand this right. If we are looking at the same parents, they had 3 sons that they named Robert ? Or that it is 2 different set of parents, and the ones in Bistree named 2 of their boys Robert ? I guess the first one could have died very young, and they then named the next one Robert as well. Or how reliable are the years in the records ? I'm still fumbling my way through here, but have noticed on census records, that it can vary a bit, what birth year they put down for the same people.
You find out something, and then there is a million new questions !   ;)
