Hi again,

Both CPR and JJ have the right family.  My Joseph did die in 1927, and had a TON of children.

JJ.....you found the right family with the 1851 census.  There were additional children, and no mention of mother Hannah.

I can't even say how appreciative I am of all of the posting people here for sticking with this topic strand!  I'm very interested in any other family connections to ANY of these people.  I have no information whatsoever about Joseph's siblings (James, William, or Matilda).

No!

I'm still very interested!  I think I must have missed a notification message.   That, or life became busy!

I'm going back to look more carefully at the recent postings.  I have had some additional information from distant family members, and will post again when I've had time to digest it all.

Canada Lookup Request / Re: Nova Scotia 1861 census look up
« on: Thursday 21 September 06 17:43 BST (UK)  »
Thanks,
My problem is that there are quite a few Camerons in Nova Scotia, but I don't know the name of my John Albert Cameron's parents, only that he was born in Halifax.  Sheet Harbour is in the region, but not in town.  What I really need is the actual census of the region, but I haven't had any luck finding it online.  Strange, because the 1851 one is there with Canada West/East and Nova Scotia, New Brunswick.

Canada Lookup Request / Nova Scotia 1861 census look up
« on: Thursday 21 September 06 05:00 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping to have family information regarding a John Albert Cameron, in Halifax in 1861.  He would have been about 6 or 7 years old.  I have his birthday as March 1854.  He had siblings Robert, William, and Elizabeth (not sure when they were born) but I don't know his parents names.

Any help would be appreciated.

Aberdeenshire Lookup Requests / Re: Mays in Lonmay
« on: Thursday 29 June 06 21:48 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Ali, even if your first post seems to have been lost.  My William was indeed the son of George (and according to my research there were many George May's in the Lonmay area.....singular lack of imagination when naming babies!), and he was in Canada by 1841, as he shows up in Census there.

It is the loads of Mays in the Lonmay area that has me frustrated, as I am having trouble singling out which ones are mine!

Thanks,
Kathryn

Lanarkshire / Camerons and Hills in Govan
« on: Tuesday 25 April 06 06:15 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I'm looking to confirm ancestry of Robert Cameron born in Govan in 1798 (Jun 3rd?).  I have his parents listed as Thomas Cameron (b 1766, Govan)and Agnes Hill (b.1775, Govan).  In turn, I have Thomas Cameron's parents listed as Lachlan Cameron (b. 1830? Govan) and Janet Hill.  I can't confirm this, and have no siblings for Thomas.  Agnes Hill's parents I have as Ninian Hill and Mary Walker, but have no confirmation of this information at all.

Any help would be appreciated!

Ireland / William and Hannah Elliott Immigrant lookup....desperate!!!
« on: Tuesday 25 April 06 06:07 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I am desperate!  I am looking to confirm ANYTHING about this couple. The were married in approximately 1840 in Ireland, and had a son, William in approximately 1841.  I don't know where.  They then immigrated to Canada (Carleton County, Ontario), where a second son, Joseph was born in 1846.  Unfortunately, William and Hannah died shortly after this, leaving both little boys to be fostered separately, where they lost all touch with each other.

Any information would be much appreciated!
Kathryn ???
