If you call lucky...knowing the site, finding Paulton, then Paulton Hill, finding the nearest date to the one you mentioned, then looking around the area, then, yes lucky  :) :)

Thats not luck! that sounds like you know what you are doing. But thanks so much.

Old-Maps is a good place to look (www.old-maps.co.uk)
They have partial coverage of the area of 1:2500 for 1971.
I have found 7933 to the south east of Paulton. Couldn't see the others but may be there somewhere.

Did you just find that by being lucky? or do you have some tools. BTW, thanks. I located this one as well

Mr P.
The Withy Mills reference relates to the Ref No for the parcel of Land.  If you look at the NW corner of the attached map (http://maps.nls.uk//view/106019792), you will see the land just to the south of the access to Withymills Farm.  A rectangular field of some 2.727acres.

I can only assume that the Paulto Hill references are similar, but that the reference numbers in this area have been changed from those that date from the publication of this map.

The explanatory note is at the left hand side of the bottom margin on the map.

WOW!!!!  How awesome. Thankyou so much. this is really really helfpul

I think they may be Field Parcel Numbers?
See: https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/resources/historical-map-resources/field-parcel-numbers.html

this looks interesting.

How were Field parcel numbers used on historical maps?
Field parcel numbers are shown on 1:2500 scale National Grid and County Series historical maps. These are now only available via national archives and copyright libraries or via our partners Groundsure and Landmark Information Group. Hello,

I'm trying to determine where and what this land might be. It is listed on some old documetns from 1972, which related to my Gt Gt Gt Aunt.      The Land is located  near Paulton, Sommerset.

it is described as

Land at Paulto Hill, Paulton
OS No 6051, 6044, 7048, 7933 in all appx 13 acres

Land at Withy Mills, Paulton
OS No 117 Aprx 2 3/4 acres

Is there a way that i can use this information to get some info like a grid reference, in the hope that i can eventually do a title search on the propertys?
