The Vaughan theory seems to work - the Kingswinford area is close to Dudley where some of her close family had moved to, thanks for your suggestions!

Looking closer at Christening record it does appear to say Single Woman not Simple Woman... sorry!

I found a Christening record for an Ann Wilding daughter of John and Ann Wilding in Monmouth in 1810, which could fit, however census records show she was born in Whitton (spelt Witton and Wiston).
She's listed as Ann Vaughan in 1841, 1851 and 1861, married to Richard Vaughan (1939). Ann her Mother with them in 1861, as Kay99 stated.
Marriage certificate states Father as John Wilding.

I'll have another look for Eliza later, thanks for pointing me in the right direction Kay99!

Wondering if anyone has any information on Eliza Wilding, baptised in Whitton in 1835.

FindMyPast has her mother as "Ann Wilding" a "Simplewoman" and no father listed in baptism record.
In 1841 census she is living with John and Anne Wilding in Whitton, however as they are in their 50s and she is 6 I don't think they are the parents.
In 1851 she is living in Knighton with John and Charlotte Morris and listed as "Niece".

Charlotte is a daughter to John and Anne Wilding. Perhaps Eliza is a daughter to one of her siblings... however no records I've come across list a sister/daughter called Ann.

I thought perhaps Ann is in an institution or workhouse - any information on records local to Whitton?

Thanks in advance :)
