liverpool archives online catalogue search:

if you put 'haymarket' in the search, its lists St Johns and what records they hold for it

Maybe only genetics can prove if anyone is 'native' or 'indigenous',but I think you're as English/Welsh/Irish or as Scottish (etc) as you feel.

I think we should all be allowed free DNA tests to see what we are made up of,its so fascinating!!

And it sounds as if they repeated the same  Street names in every district too, just like Manchester!
I tried to find Cook St -the site of the first Rolls Royce factory-on old maps of Hulme recently and found 3 within 1/2 a mile of each other, and none of them were where I was led to believe it was!!!

I think that photo may be of the wrong Clive st,other streets named with those photos were Orphan St and Anne square, but Orphan St isn't near the Northumberland st that Mary A mentions, but Essex st is

This one in Southport looks interesting :

"QUESTION: WHAT DID A BORED VICAR DO?

Dr Alan Crosby. Fri 8 Sept at 7.30 pm, Holy Trinity Parish Centre, Hoghton Street (opposite YMCA). All welcome. Tickets at the door (includes refreshments) £2 SUES members, £2.50 non-members

Answer: three hundred years ago, he might have written funny, poignant, censorious, scandalous, heartrending or simply bizarre notes in the parish registers. Many (for his eyes, and those of successors only!) would concern his parishioners. What lay under the calm surface of peaceful rural communities? What dark deeds, tragedies and naughtiness do these gossipy jottings expose? Prepare to be entertained, appalled, and amazed by glimpses of real life in villages and busy towns between 1550 and 1800!"

Wish I'd gone to that!!

if you follow this link

http://archive.liverpool.gov.uk/dserve.exe?dsqApp=Archive&dsqDb=Catalog&dsqCmd=Search.tcl

and put Clive street in the top box, then click on the numbers,it has a photo. (the info for 1-5 seems to be the same) I don't know if its the one you're after

My a-z is old but theres only a Clive Rd in Birkenhead listed,an Olive street is mentioned in the photo archives as being nearby, and theres an Olive Vale listed in Wavertree which is only 2 a-z squares from Toxteth cemetery.Someone Local could probably tell you better!!

Andy

Orphan street is still there, was Clive street in Edge Hill?
