My grandmother died here in 1951 and I may have even been born here in 1944as I Remember my mother mentioning how her father paid for a private nursing home rather than a home delivery. However I have no proof of this as My mother has unfortunately passed away.
I suspect that Homecroft was probably private as my grandmother had been ill at home but died in the nursing home and as my grandfather was so devoted to her he would pay to get her the best possibly care.
I would be interested to hear if you get any more clues about the nursing home.
