US Lookup Requests / Re: Basil A. Smith (Jun 22 1924- Nov 11 1955)

I only recently have found this side of the family. I tried to get a picture of Maes headstone in Bangor to find she doesnt have one. Although the caretaker knows the spot of where she is. I would like to have a memorial plaque placed there. It was mentioned by Judemm that her side of the family has the same rare case of kidney stones that Basil suffered from. Nellie was his blood sister who died in New Jersey at her sons house. I also found she may have another child from when she was married to Elmer Hitchcock other than Howard Hitchcock that im currently trying to get ahold of who lives in Michigan.

Thanks for that marriage link, i was able to use that to input into my tree and found that Flamet was Basils father and my great grandfather with the help of my DNA. That side of the family immigrated from Scotland in 1794 to Prince Edward Island. It also confirms that Basils birth last name was Mcadam although his mother changed it to Smith in 1935 when she married Abel Smith. That is also the same picture i recieved from Judemm.

I just recieved a picture from a cousin of him who told me the same story. Its the only picture i know of. I have been trying to find as much info as possible and talked to his sister sons wife. His sister was Arlene Nellie who died in 2007. I did never find a birth record for him in Maine.

Australia / Re: Need help to find info on Richard Bailey

Wow thanks for all the info thus far. It has proved difficult to find info on Richard. I have possibly found a 1841 England Census for him with no family listed. I will post a link as soon as possible. Also i have one of the trees for Richard on ancestry also there is one listed under Jengolds who is a direct descendent of him. As mentioned no one has provided definitive records as of yet. I am willing to do the work but am just learning the process for Australia.

According to the Australia Marriage Index (1788-1950) the location is schollhouse Kooringa registered at the Murray, South Australia. I have not been able to locate the actual certificate to see if further information was revealed. He is listed in 1841 England census at the age of 15 with no parents listed. I have also not been able to find a death record for him in Australia or New Zealand. However according to his great grand daughter he arrived in Aukland new Zealand on the "Ocean" around 1855 listed as a seaman. I have also not been able to locate Graces death certificate but she is listed under the New Zealand death index (1848-1966) dated 1887 registered in Ahaura, Aukland New Zealand.

« on: Wednesday 13 March 19 17:26 GMT (UK)  »
Greeting,

I have a family member that I have been researching and have been able to find very little info on him. Richard Bailey was born in approximately 1825 possibly in England. Later he relocated to Australia and married Grace Cundy on 19 Jun 1848 in Schoolhouse Kooringa South Africa. She was Born in 1833 in Cornwall England and died 20 Sep 1887 in Greymouth, West Coast New Zealand. Her parents are Peter and Mary Ann Snell. their kids include Mary Ann, Catherine, Richard and John Bailey. Grace also remarried to John Day and John Low. I have no other info on him to include parents or death, any info would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Greeting,

I have a new update on Flan Mcadam that may be his death certificate. It seems his first name was listed as Flamet. Now I can start researching more on him to maybe find more info on Basil. Also Just thought to ask but would there maybe any pictures floating around the family for Mae. I know it has been many years since her passing thanks.

Canada Lookup Request / Re: Need Assistance with Flan (Clarence) Mcadam New Brunswick
« on: Saturday 01 December 18 17:09 GMT (UK)  »
My grandfathers marriage and death records have his stepfather Abel Smith from New Brunswick listed in which his mother Mae married in 1935. I do not know if his name was legally changed to Smith or if it was assumed. I have requested his birth record through the offices of vital records, state archives, Monticello, Littleton, Bridgewater, and Blaine town halls with no record found. Maes Marriage records does not show her religion although I have tried to go that route to find baptismal records. I contacted Maine state archives which they said they do not have. I did recently get his social security number through an FOIA and am waiting for his stepfathers death record to file a release of his security application. The only problem with this is that he may have originally filed after his mother remarried in 1935 which leads me to believe that his stepfather may be listed. Also I have filed for his military records through Maine Veterans Office as his records were part of the 1973 archive fire. I also requested a birth record if available. The weird part about his listed birth date is that it differs in the 1930 and 1940 census records which show him as being born in 1925. Also it has his father listed in 1940 census from New Brunswick whereas in the 1930 its listed as Maine. This is why I am now researching his sisters listed father but there is very minimal information on him.
