There is a distinct possibility. So far I have not been able to identify anybody that might be him but then again I haven't been spending much time trying to find him in America. I think I will have to put more effort into that avenue.

Thanks again.

This is probably not him. The family seemed to follow the Scottish naming convention rigorously, which means I would have expected an Archibald amongst the children.

Thanks once again. His sister went to the USA in 1880, so he would have had to move out when she left.

Thanks very much for that. I wasn't able to find that record. At least I know that he was still alive in 1861.

In answer to your question, Christina was William's sister. She eventually died in Boston, Massachusetts in 1914.

Lanarkshire / William Scott from Hamilton Lanarkshire

I am trying to trace William Scott, son of Archibald Scott and Helen Baillie. He was born 1846-47 (he was 4 in the 1851 census) in Hamilton, Lanarkshire. It seems that both his parents died not long after he was born. At the time of the 1851 census, he and sister Ann, were living with their auntie Grace Baillie. He seems to have disappeared after that.

I'm hoping that somebody might know something of him, or indeed any the Scott family from Hamilton.

Thanks
Pedro

Sue, I know that your post was made some time ago and that you may have progressed further with the Scott family history but I have comprehensive data on both the Scott and Weeks family in Australia and Scotland, and England. It should be helpful. You may be able to get my E-mail address from the moderator.
