London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Richard Burrows
« on: Monday 19 December 22 11:17 GMT (UK)  »
Searching for birth of Richard Burrows b. approx 1799. Married Sarah Brown 19 Sep 1819 in Old Church, Saint Pancras.

Birth places on the censuses: Middlesex(1841,1851)
Bayswater(1861)
Marylebone(1871)
St George in the East(1881)

He died on 27 Mar 1889 in Stepney Mile End Old Town Union at age 90 and he was a fishmonger his whole life.

I have tried all birth places but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated!

London and Middlesex / Richard Burrows & Sarah Brown

My direct ancestors Richard & Sarah married in 1819 St Pancras and are here in the 1851s census
https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=uki1851&indiv=try&h=13579
I am having trouble finding both their birth certs with their birth locations different in the census'. Richards birth locations are listed as St George in the East, Bayswater, Marylebone and Middlesex. Sarah's birth locations Middlesex and Windsor.
I have tried to explore Henry Brown as seen in the above census as he is listed as a nurse child but has Sarah's maiden name for his surname but searching for Henry Brown is a needle in a haystack.
I believe I have found all their children etc I just can't go back further than Richard & Sarah.
Any info would be appreciated!

I am seeing the name Harriot but it seems one too many letters. I would also like to figure out the surname that has been crossed through, I assume the first name is the same.
Thanks for any help!

Limerick / Denis McMahon & Ellen Roche

Can anyone help me find the birth and death for this Denis McMahon? The couple had 10 children together. There are a few Denis & Ellen McMahons but I'm having trouble pinpointing this Denis' birth and death and the family in the census'.

I just found this death entry which is odd!
Same name and dob as James' wife and same year and location as his death

On the face of it I would say that it is the same man as the dates of birth are the same.

Have you considered obtaining his death certificate from the GRO?  It will cost £11.00 as it is not within the range of pdf certificates.

You could try writing to the Chelsea council burial department and ask if they have any record of his burial.

https://www.rbkc.gov.uk/births-deaths-and-marriages/births-and-deaths/deaths-registering-death/cemetery-services

There is an email address for their cemetery services. Scroll down the page a bit and you will see it.  Worth a try.  They may be able to point you in the right direction if they can't help.

Have you traced Gerald/James from Ireland to the UK, as I see that he married in Ireland.  Did they have any children?

Brilliant thanks! I've ordered the death certificate and I contacted the Chelsea burial department and they got back to me with the location of his grave!

I found the marriage and birth certs through doing a tree connected to my DNA matches. I'm trying to trace my great grandfather who I was always told he was Gerry McMahon from Ireland, however on my nans birth cert it says James McMahon. My nan was born in Acton so he obviously moved from Ireland to London at some point, I just can't figure out why (or if) he would have changed his name to Gerald. It does all add up as Chelsea is right next door to Acton. I just want to be absolutely sure this is him as I've been searching for 10 years now!

Can anyone prove or disprove that this death cert (first pic) is or isn't belonging to the man of these birth and marriage records?
I know the d.o.b is the same but I can't find for definite that he had changed his first name to Gerald from James.
I have tried to find where Gerald is buried but couldn't find him.
I hope this is clear enough!
