Hi Jamjar,
Thank you for your interest and comments. I have really struggles with George.
1. There is a Funeral Notice in Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954), Thursday 9 July 1903, page 10 for Mary Ann Smith that lists children: George W, Walter E, Charles F some married women and Florrie.
2. No idea why she is buried with the others as I haven't had time to look into it. I have to research in fits and starts and the cemetery info was gained from a trip to Sydney earlier this year. There are 7 Mary Ann(e) smiths in the Waverley Cemetery and the ages of death of all but the 1903 death don't fit her birth date for which I have the birth certificate.
3. I walked Waverley cemetery for ages trying to find a headstone for George Francis that corresponded to the plot number given by the cemetery and I couldn't find it. I would be really keen to see the headstone you found.
4. Thanks for Maud's details. I've just looked up all the children's birth registrations and can see that initially the family was in Waterloo then moved to Paddington before Ethel was born so I'll follow up the addresses.
Kind regards,
