Hi all!  :)

I found the photo at a local antique mall.  I buy any identified ones that I see and try to reconnect them to their families, so I'm afraid I can't remember at which particular place I purchased it. I can say with confidence, though, that it was somewhere in Southwestern Ontario.  It may have even been purchased close to Watford, Ontario (where Jesse Stilwell was born.)

From my research, I know the standing gentleman, Charles Simmonds, developed Tuberculosis and didn't make it to Europe after enlistment.  He died in January 1918.

Thanks for linking to the service record, polarbear - I have been through that already, and the one for Simmonds also.  Based on those records, the photo would likely have been taken in the late winter or early spring of 1916.

At some point I will post this in other forums, hoping that a living descendant will come across it and contact me.  I like to go as far with the research as I can before doing that, though, so I have a bit more to do on these two gentlemen.  It's not often that I find military photos (and the ones I do find are out of my price range) but this one is charming and I'm glad to have acquired it.

Hello!  I am researching a photograph I've found, one that depicts Jesse Stilwell (seated), and my inquiries brought me here.  I figured I would share this with you.  :)  I am also looking for death / burial information and have had no luck so far.  If I find anything else, I will let you know!
