OK, thanks!  I'm having trouble finding anything about him.  He was wounded, shot through the elbow, and left for dead. My great grandma Lillie, received a telegram saying he was missing but luckily he was found and mended.  He spent his later years growing prize chrysanthemums!

Hi, thanks for the suggestions, I think you've put me on the right track.  I've found a medal card for an Sidney G Young in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, Seaforth Highlanders.  I googled WW1 uniforms for the A&S and they look very similar.  The medal card doesn't tell me much so I'll keep searching.  Thanks again

Armed Forces / Can someone identify this uniform please?

Hi, my great grandfather, Sydney George Young was born 20 Feb 1886 at High Easter, Essex, England and died 15 Feb 1976 at Southend on sea.  His wife was Lillie (Smith) and they married in Maldon in 1913.  His parents were William & Clara Young.  I have been unable to find any record of war service on Ancestry or FindMyPast.  I'm hoping someone can identify the regiment he was in by the uniform in this photo which was taken in 1917 at Maldon.  Thanks
