I've reached a complete brick wall with this ancestor. On Lan-Opc, I can find a marriage to a Thomas Rawsthorne on 28 Apr 1812 at St Michael, Whitewell, Lancashire, England but no parents' names are provided. They have a daughter, Ann, on 2 Sep 1812.

I've looked on Lan-Opc for a birth for Ann Drinkwell (and searched on permutations like Drinkel) and can't really find anything for an Ann that would fit for someone having a child in 1812.

There are a few other Ann Drinkalls who get married in 1894 and 1895. They have different fathers and I have no idea if they are the same person as Ann Drinkwell.

There is an Anne Drinkell baptised on 2 Aug 1767 at Christ Church, Over Wyresdale, Lancashire, England. Daughter of Thomas Drinkell & Agnes. But she would be 45 at the time Ann Rawsthorne was born so possible but unlikely?
   
There is an Ann Drinkall baptised on 21 Aug 1864 at St Anne, Woodplumpton, Lancashire, England
Daughter of Thomas Drinkall & Ann. But she would be 48 at the time Ann Rawsthorne was born so seems unlikely.

The name Rawsthorne also has multiple spellings and variations so struggling to make much progress with this couple.

Hello

I've found a lot of Irish crew lists and shipping agreements showing some of my ancestors working on these boats in the 1860s and 1870s. Does anyone know where I could find more information about them and what they'd actually look like?

I've put 'steamers' in the title but I'm not 100% sure if that's what they were.

There's an Edmund Slee on Ancestry born March 1780, St Lawrence, Appleby, Westmoreland. Parents are listed as John Slee (1748) and Deborah Ellwood (1746). John Slee's parents are Jonathan Sleigh 1726-1809 and Elizabeth Mounsey 1723-1812 - although both of those seem look like very long lives so not sure how accurate those dates are.

Just reviving this thread in the hope of some advice, particularly from @seaweed.

I did order copies of the seaman's pouch I was after but was a little disappointed in the records I got back from TNA. I'd hoped to get a list of ships he'd worked on but there was only one ship noted on his DIS.A card when he was discharged in 1952.

If I wanted to find which ships he's sailed on, would that mean I need to visit Kew itself?
