Thanks for all your clues BallyaltkilliganG, it is very generous of you. Will try to get to a library where I can access free Ancestry.com. Looks like this will be hard to track.

Much appreciated.

Oops, meant to say Great great Aunt married John Bermingham.

3

John Bermingham was Stephen Hambrook's cousin.  Stephen was my Great Grandfather on my maternal side. Funnily enough my Great Aunt on my Paternal side ended up marrying John Birmingham.

Thanks for the tips.

Find my past has been useful.  Have already needed to amend some dates etc.

John Considine b1830 (although I think he was really born in 1828 or 1929, I found a photograph of a family headstone which states he was 62yo at time of death in 1890 Ballarat.  Headstone states that they were natives of Tulla County Clare).

Mary Considine (Cunningham) died 26/03/1870 according to headstone.

John and Mary Cunningham had at least 3 children.
Henry Considine b1864 registered as (Constine) Ballarat  d /04/1932
John Considine b1869 Ballarat  d 03/06/1869 5 months old on headstone
Patrick Considine b1870 Ballarat  d 30/05/1870 12 months old on headstone

John remarried in 1871 to Anne Leary.
So far have only found 1 child.  Edward Considine (registered as Constandine) B1872 Ballarat.

John and Mary may have had additional children.  It is thought that 1 or 2 girls ended up in a children's poorhouse.  Sarah Considine b1863 d 1894 ?I haven't found anything to substantiate this yet.

Thanks agin for your help.  Will keep plugging away for a while..........

Hi,

Have just started researching John Considine.  I think he may have been my great great grandfather.  I only have limited family info.  I was told that his parents were Michael Patrick And Catherine Considine from County Clare.  Apparently John was born in 1838 and died in 1890 (52 years old). We think he came to Australia around 1862.  But I have no idea of the name of the boat.

Johns first marriage was to Mary Cunningham (also from County Clare).  Mary was born 1938 or 1939.  Mary died 1870 (31 years old).  Don't know if they had children.

Johns second marriage was to Anne Leary in 1871. Their son Henry was my great grandfather.  Henry was born in 1874 or 1875 in Ballarat Victoria.  Henry married Elizabeth Dooley.  I can give you names of their 6 children if you want them. Henry died in April 1932.

I haven't gotten any records to substantiate this yet, its just family history that has been passed on.

Do you have any specific info on when John came to Australia, i.e. year and name of boat ?
