Galway / Mary Reilly - Dunmore, Galway
« on: Thursday 21 July 22 15:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi, all.  I am researching my family, and there are loads of them and as usual more or less named the same as well  😕

I have Mary Reilly (Reilly spelt in so many ways as well making it awkward).  She was born 6 June 1858, Dunmore, Galway, daughter of Peter and Julia Connell.  Below is the record for her, I am no longer on Roots Ireland, something I had to give up given current circumstances financially.
She appears then on the 1911 Census in Ireland, along with her brother Patrick.  Still in Dunmore.  I am struggling to find her Death record, I have gone through Tuam and Galway records(16 records each) and most of the Mary Reilly are widows (assuming she never married, still single in 1911), I have been looking for Spinster.  I did find one, but would like an opinion on it.  It does state Housewife, even though I think she never married.

I am therefore assuming she is referred to Housewife, being living with her brother and his wife and family?

In brief, not sure if this her death I suspect so, I am not convinced she did marry, would appreciate feedback - thank you
🤷‍♀️

Thank you  :)

Irish ancestry can be difficult - some parishes have good records, others not.

If you have others, it might be a different outcome.

Best wishes

How did you figure there was another daughter Bridget?  She does not appear anywhere on Census etc?

I noticed a published tree with very little information re Connells.
The only information mentions a marriage for Bridget Connell 1871.

I have looked it up and here she is with father Peter of Cloonkeen   :)

The interesting thing is that she was 20 yrs old so born abt 1851 but the sad thing is that there are gaps in those baptisms on the parish site and there are no marriages which might give mother’s name  ::)

By the way, are you the same person with two accounts? It is confusing.

This is the account I am using on Roots Chat, my other one, I totally forgot about, there is one not sure where :-).  So this is my primary account on Roots Chat one that I use now.  To be honest, I left it for months as I got fed up hitting brick walls with Irish Ancestry just was not getting anywhere :-)

If you are referring to Ancestry, published Trees, there is a 2nd tree and that is for my Mums DNA (irish side).  There is also a dirty tree which I use to mess about with in case I am lead down a rabbit hole.  My main tree is private.  Hope that helps a bit more.

How did you figure there was another daughter?  She does not appear anywhere on Census etc?

That is the death registration so there is no maiden name shown.

This is the parish , I think, https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0326

Baptism records don’t start until 1841 so James might miss out. I have looked on an index on Ancestry (FindMyPast) also has one but I can’t see any Connell baptisms.

Guess I will be busy going through this lot tonight lol   Thank you so much I was getting confused a lot with the Townlands some sounding familiar and also Connell is such a common name plus repetative first names its a minefield

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Mary Julie Connell (nee Reilly)

Hi

I have found the Registration for my Gt Gt Grandmother, on the GRO site, registration District Barkston Ash.  She lived in Allerton Bywater and I am assuming, she is buried in St Marys in Allerton Bywater.  From only having the register Index how can I find out where she is actually buried.  Many thanks

Her death is registered as CONNELL, MARY  JULIA  68  GRO Reference: 1955  J Quarter in BARKSTON ASH  Volume 02D  Page 480.  I have looked on Forebearers and it keeps taking me to Ancestry and there is nothing there apart from the registration

I looked up Tadcaster as he lived in Allerton Bywater and that falls under Tadcaster.  So I looked up the Tadvaster Parish Records.  The year of his death is not under the Tadcaster records they stio at 1937.
