Unfortunately all I have is a name - he's kind of the black sheep of the family, ran out on my great grandma and moved in with another woman so no one really talked about him much so we lost his DOB etc.  All I know is he was George Reed, son of George Reed, and in 1902 (when they married) he was a labourer and his father was deceased.

We are following any and all clues to try and find him so narrowing down the regiments and era is a fantastic help, thanks very much you guys!

The original is a sepia photograph thats been painted from what I remember - this picture is a copy of a copy so the detail is pretty shot but if anyone can help me narrow down even branches of the Armed services I would be grateful.  For example, all the uniform pictures I can find on the web show black cuffs and collars not white or more ornate details and I don't know if all ranks would have swords or if the lack of detail suggests a rank and so on so any help even ruling out things would be great.

I know he lived in Kensington so I am looking for probably a London/Middlesex regiment operating sometime before or during WW1.

Hello all!  I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help me identify the uniform in this picture of my Great Grandad George Reed.  The picture should be around WW1 or earlier.  Its in colour but the detail is hidden so I can't help with badges so need to go with style and colour and work from there.

All help much appreciated!

Jenny

Hiya I know this is a long shot but I'm trying to track down more info on my Great grandfather George reed.  He married Gertrude Dengate in 1902 and had several children including Ivy and Winifred.  They then seperated and he stayed local in London as my Nan Ivy remembered going to see him occasionally.  I don't know it they divorced and he remarried but he definitely had at least one daughter with his new partner as again my Nan remembered meeting her but we've lost her name.

If this rings any bells with anyone can you let me know more about George as that entire branch is a complete blank?

Thanks!

Hi all, I'm trying to find the address my great grandparents gave on my grandads birth certificate but can't find it on any censuses.  Anyone heard of 107 Carlyle Avenue, willesden?  Year 1911?

Thanks.

Have you tried searching on Ancestry.co.uk in the birth records?  They have the scans of all the birth directorys, if you know her surname and year you should be able to find her either through the database (incomplete) or in the scans (beta version).  Its how I found my Great grandmother - once you find the reference you can then order the certificate online at the records office.
