Yorkshire (West Riding) / Joseph Heald B 1761 - Wakefield
« on: Wednesday 19 October 22 14:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for the death of Joseph Heald, son of Samuel Heald and Mary Woodhead (in wakefield).  I have found his Baptism Record dated 26th December 1761, he went on to marry Sarah Moxon on 18th March 1782.  Sarah died in 1838 as a Widow in Wakefield.  This is where it all ends.  I thought I had found him charged with Murder and sentenced to death.  upon reading the documents, it was clear this Joseph Heald was a boy, therefore I dismissed this as my Joseph.  I have looked under Yorkshire Burials, I have looked under the collection of West Yorkshire BMD, nothing

I wonder if anyone else could shed some light here?

Sarah was born 1yr after Joseph and Hannah marriage.   Hannah maiden name was Braham.   I have looked at page after page of St Mary's baptism records,  nothing.

The only reg I can find on GRO is for a Sarah Elizabeth Gray to a mother Briggs.   Hannah only married Joseph.  All siblings I have found their Birth Reg and Baptism.   Just not Sarah.   Sarah died before 1939.   Census does not indicate step daughter etc

I have a great Grand Aunt by the name of Sarah E Gray born 1868 to Joseph Mitchel Gray and Hannah Braham.  Sarah appears on the 1871, 1881 and 1891 Census and then marries William Braithwaite 1892, in Garforth (Garforth is where I live).  On the Census 1891 she appears as Elizabeth S Gray.

They had a daughter Florence Mary, and I managed to trawl through Garforth St Mary's Baptism records and found Florence entry.

I have looked from 1866 to 1869 for Sarah Elizabeth Baptism, nothing.  I have looked on the GRO website, for Sarah, nothing with the mothers maiden name of Braham.  All her siblings are on GRO and have the mothers maiden name as Braham.

I have looked on the parish register for St Mary in Garforth for Sara, or Elizabeth or Sarah Elizabeth or Elizabeth Sarah, also under the parents names nothing.  So am stumped as to her birth?  Any suggestions would be appreciated - thank you
