Is anyone researching this surname from Coventry to New Jersey about 1890?

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Lucas

Hello there - I am a little slow in replying - my computer will not let me login to rootschat so I've had to get access to another computer.

I am interested in all the Tutbury Lucas entries to work out the family line - Montgomery as a first name keeps appearing down the decades - his name always appeared in the Mormon lists for Tutbury but nothing
else so I always knew/or guessed that Tutbury may be the family base.  My line ended up in Southam - not that far away - but we have never found much about Martin before his marriage record - some of the Lucus/Lucas were in Banbury - on the move it would seem to Southam,-  these are the next lot of records I will need to access.
It is so difficult working from Aus - even with the amazing resources available on line.
I really appreciate the rootschat community and the amazing knowledgeable generosity shown.

Joy :)

Every snippet of information does hejp build up a picture of thiese people.

I often wonder what the ancestors would think about all this 'prying' into their life.

Many thanks for putting in the time to find this information for me.

My interest is Mary Rumble born 1815 Welney - father Samuel - mother Sarah.
This was on the IGI then disappeared.

Somehow I have discovered Sarah's surname was Kettle but may be Kiddle as this seems to be a commoner surname for the area.

Was the earlier church in Welney still called St Marys?

Mary married a King [surname not title or I wouldn't be having all this trouble] perhaps in Swaffham about 1835 but have not found any record of this.

I think Samuel dies in Swaffham Bridewell but do not know how to find where any existing records may be.  I have been told the surgeons reports listed deaths.

 many questions  :) :)

Hello all from Melbourne Australia

I am banging my head again.

I need help with any sort of information about Welney - church, BMD transcripts, village life or references 1800+, places to contact for further help - anything.
I know this is where my ancestor was born in 1815 - from an IGI transcript that no longer is there - and nothing else.
The surnames I am interested in are RUMBLE  and KETTLE.

 :) I am smiling

Well, it's a bit of a surprise hearing from a GALT connection -  this is a first - it's been a few years since I've had anything to do with any sort of research for the GALT line - everything came to dead ends.

On the 1841 census there is son William 22 unmarried and a joiner.  He went to Australia - how or why I don't really know as yet, and that is my gg.g/father.

I would love to hear your story and exchange the story of the GALT family to the present day - or as much as we know.

Joy

Hello

I am a LUCAS researcher/descendent and I am interested in the reference to Martin LUCAS being from Tutbury.
I was told this once before but could never get any evidence then and so put the whole quest aside.
Now you have sparked my interest.

Can you give any more details on Tutbury - and - how you fit into the LUCAS line.

I did see your reference to SNELL- that's linking in to my researches.
