It is not a particularly short close , there are quite a number of properties, all bungalows.

I am looking for the occupants of No. 8 in 1995.  Can you help?

Hi,  My father-in-law died in 1996 and on clearing the house recently found a letter sent then,  signed 'your cousins Mabel and Florrie', with an address of Cranemoore Close, Highcliffe , Christchurch.

No idea who these cousins are, or even their surname!  Anyway of tracing the address to see if that helps? Tried Landregistry and it appears to have been sold around 2000, which could indicate a death or moving into a home.  If descended  from dad's brother, surname could be Jordan, however, he also had 11 sisters!!!

Many thanks for everyone's replies.  We had put the Orr family to one side while concentrating on another topic (Jewell sisters - which has been very successful). Have noted all the interesting info and will get back to everyone as soon as we have looked at it properly.

Hi, Shelley
Have found that one of the girls. Susie, married Myron J Foley on 29 May 1913. 1930 census shows one daughter, Mary Onge M. Foley, born 1917.  Any ideas on how I could trace her possible marriage??

:) Once again, many thanks.  This does seem like a possibility.  Am aware of Family Search Labs site, so will keep checking it.  We seem to have drawn a blank unless we join Ancestry.com, but do not want to at the moment.    Have been trying to check out the known children but no luck so far.  Unfortunately May Jewell (the sister who remained in England) did not save any of her mother's correspondence.

:(  Very Sorry, but I know nothing else about the Purdon family so far.  Geroge Purdon was born approx 1887, so could possibly be a brother.   Will let you know if we find any more info.

:)  Many thanks for all this wonderful information! Adeline's granddaughter is fascinated with this, as she often wonders what happened to her aunts after they had emigrated.
Gladys is interesting - what was she doing by herself in 1920 if she married in 1914 and had several children?? Wonder what happened to her first husband??

Canada / Jewell family

Ernest Thomas Jewell emigrated to Detroit, Michigan (see topic on USA board) in 1902 with his 6 sisters.  He married Retta from Canada in 1905 and his residence at death was shown as Canada.
No idea if he had any children.  Does anyone know anything about Ernest or the Jewell sisters?
