Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Any thoughts on where else to look?

I have a similar problem at Weston and Askwith parish. My 3xg.grandfather John Mountain is marrying there late 18th cent. Never found where he comes from. Was a tenant farmer. However over the fell is Fewston. An entry in that baptism register could well be he. Have no proof it is so. My 1978 MI recording of that churchyard shows three tombstones of Kendall's. Six first names. No Robert.  Copies of the MI recording were given to the Vicar and to West Riding of Yorkshire archives.  Hoping the above gives ideas of what to do.      Gragareth.

Reference Library / Re: DBSIG: German Pork Butchers

It may be of interest possibly known already. At Knaresborough, West Riding of Yorkshire,
in the 1940's and may be later there was "Holch" pork butcher's... at least a butcher. Reputed to be German. Shop situated at one side of the market square.
I've no connection at all with butchers or Germany.  Regards, Gragareth.

On second thoughts more likely 1945. Or may be not war end or coronation !    Gragareth.

Many thanks to all who helped with my query. For ease I said prints, but actually negatives of the old box camera size. Scanned these at large resolution and then in Photoshop software. So even with that resolution isn't good.  However can say to "Gadget" you're correct. Only now looked closely and cards do say Mrs.Mop, and "Can I do you now sir", catch phrase in the radio show "Itma". So this surely dates the photos to 1953 ?  I think are more likely somewhere in Yorkshire.          Gragareth 30.8.14

Inherited these prints. Anyone know where it is, and when etc..Could be celebrating the Queen's
coronation. Or  the end of WW2 I think less likely.  Replies appreciated.             Gragareth.

Hello libby9.
I'm descended from Amelia Lister Binns, sister of Thomas Lister Binns.  This particular piece of research because for many years I have a bible given to my maternal grandmother in Leeds upon her marriage in 1885. The written card inside is from Mr and Mrs Richard Knowles of Ince, Wigan. This year researched who they were and result is discovering Richards' wife was Elizabeth Lister Binns of Leeds.  Her first husband was David Curry Priestley of Leeds. Appears they went from Leeds to Wigan he into a teaching job.
Her second husband was Richard Knowles, Wigan.   Mrs Elizabeth Lister Knowles nee Binns was first cousin once removed to my grandmother. I'm agreeable to emailing as there's a bit more to the story.
Gragareth.   PS hope it makes sense !
