Sussex / Feest family from Worthing 1600's
« on: Friday 25 March 16 12:34 GMT (UK)  »
With a surname of Feest I can claim to have ancestors living in the area in the 1600s ( I used CDs of the local parishes to research my family tree.)

Can I help anyone with old Worthing families?

It seems  that William Hobden was born in c1741, & was the son of a Daniel Hobden. It is also likely that William Feest - his son - was born in Falmer nr Lewes.
Ancestry says William & mary were married but I doubt that!!

I am on Genes Reunited myself. I have found out about Mary Feest (1731) from various sources including the parish records of her birth etc. It is William Hobden I am trying to trace

Sussex / Mary Feest (1731 - 1810) & William Hobden

Sometime ago I was looking for details of Mary Feest, who when she was living in the Falmer area around 1760-80 had a son by William Hobden.  I am resonably sure they did not marry despite some records to the contrary. William is alleged to have fathered twins by another woman in 1771-  the same year that Mary Had her son William by him.
Mary was born in Goring by Sea and had several siblings.

Can anyone tell me who William's parents were & did he actually marry anyone?

have you tried The Parish Register Society? They can sell you (for about £3-£4) a CD of the West Tarring Parish register from arond 1600 to 1910.
It lists baptisms, marriages & deaths for that period.

Beryl was Alan Pockett's cousin, she died some years sgo. she was married to Gordon Green. They had one Daughter Penny , who is married to Chris Evers. They have son Toby(?) & a daughter Sophie. Penny lives in France.

I  MIGHT get more from Alan when I see him next month. Alan did have a Sister who died some years ago.

I have spoken to Mrs Pockett, Alan's wife and she confirms that Beryll is (or was) a second(?) cousin of his.

They will give more details in a few days - she did not have time to chat just then.

If I can help please let me know what it is you need to know!!

On another tack a very old friend of mine is an Alan Pockett who lives in the Storrington Sussex area.
