Hi Caz, I'm still around and forgotten all about that.  I'll have to look into my files to see if I can find the photo of Samuel.  From memory he is descended from Walter Levi who moved to Tottenham from Hampshire.  That's a coincidence because we moved up from Maidstone to a town just north of there.

Hi, I can't help with the MI but I am related to the Neale's of Burbage and Wootton Rivers.  Don't know how closely they appear in your family history but are you aware of any O'Neill links to Ireland?

Best wishes

Glad to be of help Cassie.  Can you remind me what Vivash line you are descended from.  Incidentally, while looking around I found a photo of Samuel Levi Vivash, a son of Arnold so it's been a good day for me too.

I think I must have previously replied to this.  William was my gggrandfather and I have a lot of information about this branch.  His father was Thomas Vivash who died at East Dean in 1829 aged 70.  There is no evidence of his birth or where he came from although there is some mention in one of his marriage records.  He married 3 times.  The nearest and only Thomas Vivash born in 1759 is the baptism of one by this name at Great Bedwyn but it is a leap of faith that they are the same person.

William's mother was Sarah but her surname unknown.  The reason you can't find his baptism c1816 is that he was baptised on 25th December 1832 at East Dean along with his siblings.  They are all listed as illegitimate and their ages are given and you can work out their birth years (a previous message gives this information).  This may mean that Sarah and Thomas were never married but his name is given as father on all of Sarah's children's marriage certificates.

William's wife was widow Eliza Stone nee Long.  Eliza's widowed mother Harriett married William's widowed brother Cornelius.  They had no children themselves but did look after my ggrandfather James Vivash for a while (in one of the East Dean census').

Hope it helps.

Thomas's brother James was my GGrandfather.  Their parents were my GG grandfather William Vivash and Eliza Stone nee Long.  They came from East Dean.

William's mother was my GGGgrandmother Sarah Vivash and Thomas Vivash was probably the father.  His children called him father but their is no marriage record.  He married 3 times and died at East Dean in 1829 age 70.  Sarah died in 1849 at Romsey Workhouse.

Eliza was the daughter of James Stone and Harriett Long and married twice.  First to William Vivash and then bigamously to Jesse Ridgley in 1879.  William was still living at East Dean and died in 1895 at Romsey Workhouse.

Eliza's father James died c1841 and her mother then married William's brother Cornelius Vivash in 1846.  They had no children.

Hope it helps
