Essex / Re: More Essex surnames
« on: Friday 20 August 04 17:15 BST (UK)  »
Just popped in to take a look at the conversation and find a request for something I can contribute to!

Here is one Crush family from the 1861 census of Writtle.  I am looking for the birth date and parentage of John, the deaf and dumb shoemaker.  Any anecdotal information about him would be fantatsic too.

1861 Bridge St
John 50 master shoemaker bn Roxwell deaf and dumb from birth
Mary 42 bn High Easter
William 23 Labourer bn Writtle
Joseph 20Labourer bn Writtle
John 16 Labourer bn Writtle
James 16 Labourer bn Writtle
Charles 8 Scholar bn Writtle
Samuel 5   bn Writtle
Robert 2 bn Writtle

Completed Census Requests / 1871 Census Lookup for MARTIN in Lancashire (Whalley)
« on: Wednesday 07 July 04 06:44 BST (UK)  »
I am searching for a family - probably in Whalley - consisting of John Martin, wife Ann aged about 40, with children Alice (10), Alfred (7) and Catherine (5)  I've found them in 1881 when Ann is a widow but I am almost certain her husband was John
Thanks so much to whoever can do this lookup for me.
