LOL...Could be Stan, so dad must have been in the Red House in 1924, which is now Oakfield again. But i take it is a private residence now again?
But whatever,,,I now know where dad was before going back to Ireland...LOL...he then got maried and my mam said...Right, back to England, hence Liverpool....lol
She went back to Ireland years later for a holiday the kids paid for...She came back to Liverpool as she was homesick ..lol...make that out.

Cheers Stan.

Gosh, all this is good....I'm thinking it must have turned to a hotel...It would have employed more people than the Lodge.

It looks a grand old Hotel in Catherine's picture.

Thanks again all.

My dad like a lot of others was walking the country looking for work...He always told us..he made sure his old army boots was polished high...especially the heels...When many men were turned away..many times the owner would look you up and down and ask for your regiment...Then give you work sometimes..
This description rings true to me...

So i take it this would not be a hotel, but a private residence...Now i'm in a bind...Hotel or house?
At least i know it's the right location...
many thanks t you all. Stan, Ruskie and Catherine.

Thank you all, it must be the RED HOUSE LODGE...as it's quite clear on the archive record....Red HOUSE KESWICK.....

It's funny because i often get up there...I like that area in particular...I must have passed it by as i usually rent a house/cottage.
I'll look out for it when this flippin Virus is done...

My dad left the army after WW1 due to wounds and malaria....Sometime later he went back to Ireland on the death of his Dad,,,Stayed and joined the new Irish Free state forces...
I got his Army Record papers from Ireland on his service there.... But was very surprised that on enlistment his last address was RED HOUSE KESWICK, CUMBERLAND....i'm presuming he was working there.  Does anybody know it's location as i can't find it.

Many thanks.
