Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: James Day Marriage Look Up Request
« on: Sunday 26 August 07 17:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Thanks to everyone for their speedy responses!

I presume that Maria Day was Maria Gibson before marriage as the location/dates seem to match and I would of thought that the the BMD records showing that a James Day married a 'Maria' in Manchester circa 1874 would be a massive coincidence. Ive also had a browse through the other records for James Day in Lancashire in the suitable period and can find no one else marrying a 'Maria'.

Ive actually traced James's family back to around 1800's and was trying to see if I could make a start on tracing Maria's family. I thought that she could possibly have been connected to the Italian community in the Ancoats area but with the surname Gibson evidently not!!

Hi,

Im trying to find the marriage certificate for James Day and Maria Day [nee?].

James Day was born abt 1853 in Manchester and Maria was born abt 1855, also in Manchester. As far as I am aware they lived in the Hulme/Ancoats area of Manchester for their whole lives and were married by the 1891 census.

James's parents were Nathan and Sarah Day. I have no information on Maria's maiden name unfortunatley. Thank you in advance for any help!!

Sam.

Hi,

Thanks to both of you for your time and help. I dont have any further information on Nathan Day at the moment. I will however apply for a copy of the marriage certificate that you have kindly found and hopefully I will be able to shed to light on his whereabouts in 1841.

Thanks,

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Nathan Day 1841 Look-up request

Hi,

Im wondering if anyone can help me locate my Great x4 Grandfather on the 1841 census. His name was Nathan Day and he was born in Liverpool circa 1825. On the 1851 census he is registered as being married to Sarah Day [nee Redfern], with one son aged 11mnths called David and was living in Manchester. His given occupation was labourer. He died sometime during the period 1851-1861 as by the time the 1861 census appears Sarah's status is widow.

I cannot find any record of him on the 1841 census when he would be aged around 16. If anyone can manage to locate him pre 1851 or can offer me guidance on how I can improve/widen my search I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you for your help. It is much appreciated!!

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me find my Great x 4 Grandfather on the 1841 census. He was born in Liverpool circa 1825. On the 1851 census he is registered as being married to Sarah Day [nee Redfern] with one child aged 11mnths, named David. At the time of the census he was living and working as a labourer in Manchester.

However, I cannot find any record of him on the previous 1841 census when he would of been aged around 16yrs old. Can anyone manage to locate him or possibly come up with any reasons why he wouldn't be on the census?

Thank you for your help. It is much appreciated!!
