How do I know that Maria Gordon Rutherford is the same person.

And her name is Maria Kelly in the 1881 census.
Children's mmn Kelly.

I'm a little confused

Thanks

Hi
I am researching Hetheringtons in Birkenhead and have reached a brick wall of sorts.....

I have John Hetherington in 1911 census (reg district 452, 37/21994) living with his wife Harriet and also his mother Mary Hetherington.

In 1901 I have John Hetherington (37/3393/33/20) living with his wife and Harriet and children)

In 1881 I have found John Hetherington living with his father John Hetherington and listed is Mary KELLY, mother of family. (both say unmarried)

Having looked at the GRO index John's mother's maiden name is KELLY as are his three siblings.

In 1911 Mary is listed as a widow.  I can't find a marriage for John and Mary and find it strange she is listed as mother of family.

Any help appreciated

Many thanks for your replies.
Yes it is the same family.
I was trying to take it further back than William.
Marriage and birth of William and then parents..

Many thanks for your help  :)

This looks like the correct family.
As it is his daughter Ann Dixon I am following.  And a couple of generations below Ann, there is a middle name if Molyneux

Thankyou 😊

Hi
I have found an ancestor William Dixon on census records.

I would like to find a marriage and baptism and possibly take it back to his parents

I have him on the 1861 census living with wife Ellen  and 5 children.

They are in West Derby
Household schedule number 48
Piece 2703
Folio 66

Many thanks for any further info on this person
