Hi Diddy
thank you for info.  I had seen this somewhere before and wrote to Rippingale Parish to see if they had any info on where the Blacksmiths was situated.  I didn't get any reply.
It must be my Francis Allen.  He was buried in Castle Bytham.

Thnaks for your replies.

Francis Henson Allen was born in 1786 and died in 1818.   So somewhere during this period he was a Blacksmith in the Castle Bytham Area.

Hope someone can shed a light on this.

Is there any lists of Blacksmiths working in Lincolnshire in the 1800's.
My g.g. Grandfather was Blacksmith at the time of my g Grandfather's marriage in 1839.
I believe he came from Castle Bytham.
Thanks for any info.

Hi
I read somewhere that there is a grave in the Churchyard at Castle Bytham with an inscription about a Blacksmith.  Can anyone tell me the name of the Blacksmith.  My ancestor was a Blacksmith in the Castle Bytham area.
Thanks for any info.

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: Norwich Records Office
« on: Monday 08 November 10 11:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Sue

Thank you for the info you have sent me.

Yes, I do believe Mary & John Allen are my great grandparents. I have a birth certificate for Francis who was born in Papworth, Cambridge born 1842.  I have visited the parish church of St George, Stamford where they were married on 2 Jan 1839.   John's occupation was a Waggoner and his father Francis a blacksmith.  Francis John Allen was born in Castle Bytham, Lincs.  I have traced the family back to Edward Allen.

It fits that Mary (nee Ann Howe) married to Francis Allen on 13 Jan 1861.  Francis was a railway engineer who died in Great Yarmouth (lodging) on 18 Sept 1875.  Mary (nee Ann Howe) then became a housekeeper at 4 St Andrews Hill, Norwich.  I went to Norwich and no 4 St Andrews Hill is still there.  It is now joined to nextdoor and is a 'mystic' shop.  The weavers rooms on the second floor are now flats.

I think our families must have been constantly on the move!  I have not done any research since May and will get back to it now the winter is upon us.

Thanks again.

Patrica

I will take a longer look at what you have sent.
