Hello, I am seeking a birth/baptism for Matthew Benjamin West born circa 1860/-1865 Clonmel, Co Tipperary, parents William West and Nellie Marshall. He went to the USA 1886 and it was said both his father and grandfather were famous horsemen (presumably in Clonmel). He himself became a horse trainer for an estate in the USA (Astor family). He had a brother William E West born circa 1854-57 also a horse trainer/stud groom in the USA Shelburne/Webb estates (who went to the USA circa 1882, varies on the different censuses), problem is he declared his parents as Matthew West and Margaret Haduch/Hadurn on his USA marriage details. I connect with dna (that part of Ireland) with descendants of Matthew (2nd-3rd cousin range), William's daughter did not have issue so cannot compare.
Now my own great grandfather William E Wash born about 1855 a head groom/coachman, father noted as Richard a coachman, worked circa 1881 in possibly the Dublin area for George Willoughby Hemans (whose daughter was wed to Baronet Tancred, lived London and their cook was my great gran). Later that year he wed in London (the cook, his wife was with child, so presumably they had to get wed), he then worked at Tattersalls in Knightsbridge/Kensington as a coachman/horseman, but he soon disappeared to the USA possibly circa 1882, citing Fenians after him. Later his son was informed his father was really John West. So many things do not tie up other than the dna, I am wondering if this William E West was my great grandfather or did they have a brother John, but then those two brothers give different names for their parents. When Matthew West died his obit said he was born Clonmel. This is one of my all time brickwalls.
