Armagh / Armagh Tithe Applotment Book Look-up Please
« on: Friday 30 November 18 05:41 GMT (UK)  »
I have found my GGGgrandfather, John LYNCH, listed on the 1832 Lisnadill Civil parish Tithe Applotment Book index and was wondering if anyone has access to the full details and what would be contained in there. The index just supplies his name and the townland of Magherarval.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in Australia so a physical lookup is impossible for me and I can't seem to find anything further online.

Thank you both for taking the time to answer.
It looks like you're right Elwyn...
If anyone is going to PRONI would it be possible to look this up for me.
Living in Aussieland restricts me only to what I can find on the net so I'm very grateful for any help.
Cheers

I have found my 4xGGrandfather noted in the Tithe Applotment book indexes and was wondering if any kind soul had access to the full record so I could see how much land he was renting and any other piece of info that might be helpful.
John Lynch, 1834, Townland=Magheriarval (Magherarville), Civil Parish= Mullaghbrack.
As always, any help would be really appreciated.

Armagh / Re: Maheriarviel ??

Thanks to you both for taking the time to ponder this one with me........it looks like I might be on the right track.
Thanks especially to you Noreen for your kind offer.
The family I'm tracking are John LYNCH & Margaret nee DONNELLY who I believe may be my GGGgrandparents. They were both deceased by 1867 according to the Scottish death cert. of one of their sons, Peter.
According to Scottish census records Peter was born abt 1810 & his brother Hugh (my GGgrandfather) abt 1812, both in Armagh.
Have found the birth of Hugh on IFH in 1814 with the above mentioned parents but no further details & then a birth for Peter in 1807 with a slight variation in the mother's maiden surname.."McDonnell" ..so not absolutely sure this is the correct birth. (His DC states his mother's MS as "DONELY" and his father's occupation as farmer)
If you are able to find any other info relating to this couple Noreen, I would be eternally grateful.
Cheers

Armagh / Maheriarviel ??
« on: Thursday 29 September 11 15:29 BST (UK)  »
I've found the birth/baptism of an ancestor on IFH where the address is given as Maheriarviel, Armagh. Can't find anything that matches this & so was wondering if it could mean Magherarville, Armagh?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Angus (Forfarshire) / Re: David WALLACE

Hi Ev
Thanks for taking the time to consider my quandary  ::)
I'm not too fussed about the age difference for David cos people in those days weren't always accurate in reporting their ages correctly.
What I was thinking though was that after he was convicted for the rape in 1858, maybe he was forced to join the militia as part of or after serving his time & that would account for him being in it when he was convicted in 1862. That's why I was hoping someone might have been able to find something more in the newspapers about the rape trial & conviction.
Cheers

Lancashire / Re: Elizabeth & Thomas PINNINGTON

Thanks for that Allan.....I must admit I've wondered along those lines myself because I haven't been able to find any conclusive trace of the remaining family....if they were scattered, this could explain it.
Can you tell me if the originals of the parish records contain any further info other than that which is mentioned on the OPC site? I'm wondering if it would help narrow down Elizabeth's death or possible re-marriage.
Thanks once again.
Annie
