« on: Friday 26 November 04 16:06 GMT (UK)  »
1901 Census has Martha Jane Wells listed as inmate at  St Mary's House, in the Parish of St.Mary the Virgin in I believe Stone Kent.
Can anyone provide more information about this institution. Martha Jane Wells is a great aunt  who's past is cloudy .

Thank you

St, Thomas' Home- Basingstoke was a dwelling place in 1881 Census .  Notation by census taker describes it as a "Home for Wayward Women" or something like that.  Could someone confirm the description as St.Thomas Home was  residence of a Great Aunt for 2 yrs circa 1899.

Thanks

Trying to find earliest Wells and have worked back and obtained marriage cert for George Wells & Hannah Clark Norman Oct. 31, 1842 in "Parish Church" Parish of Bradpole.  1851 Census shows George Wells b 1823 with Ann b1825,  Esther b.1827, Ann b. 1843, Frederick b. 1848, John b. 1845 and Thomas G. 11mo
Hannah, Anna and Ann are variants of the same name.
baptismal records show  George Wells s.o. Thomas & Betty  23 Feb 1823 and Hester Wells d.o. Thomas & Elizabeth 8 Oct 1826  I believe Hester and Esther are same person and therefore Esther is living with brother George and his wife Ann.
There are two Thomas Wells married to Elizabeths
1803 Marriage Thomas Wells & Elizabeth Gudge both of this Parish Mar 23
1805 Marriage Thomas Wells & Elizabeth Hodgill both of this Parish Jan 08
Question 1. What is/was the relationship between Bradpole, Bridport and Walditch
Question 2. How best to get more details of Thomas Wells
Thankyou in advance
